Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data TeachMeLike5 (“TML5”, “we”, “us”) collects, why, and the choices and rights you have. We follow India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act). In its terms, you are a Data Principal and we are a Data Fiduciary.

1.Who we are

TeachMeLike5 is a free online learning platform operated by Understand Labs, 19th Anjinappa Complex, Hennur Bagalur Main Road, Kothanur, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560077, India. For any question about your data or this policy, contact us at hello@teachmelike5.com.

2.What personal data we collect

We keep collection to the minimum needed. Depending on how you use the site:

• Internship / careers applications: your name, email, phone (optional), LinkedIn or portfolio link (optional), and the answers you write in our qualifier.
• Account & sign-in: if you sign in with Google, your name and email address from your Google account, and a session cookie we set to keep you signed in.
• Feedback: if you use the in-page “doubts & suggestions” helper, the text you send and which page you sent it from. This can be used anonymously.
• Basic technical data: standard information your browser sends (e.g., approximate request logs) needed to run and secure the site.

We do not collect sensitive data (such as financial, health, or biometric information), and we do not run advertising trackers.

3.Why we use it, and our lawful basis

Under the DPDP Act we process your personal data only for a clear purpose and on a lawful basis — your consent, or a legitimate use permitted by the Act (such as data you voluntarily give us for a purpose you asked for). We use your data to:

• Evaluate your internship application and get back to you about it.
• Let you sign in and use features tied to your account.
• Read your feedback and improve our lessons and product.
• Keep the service secure and working.

We ask for your consent — free, specific, informed, and unambiguous — before collecting the data you type into forms, and we tell you the purpose at the point of collection.

4.Withdrawing consent

Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time — as easily as you gave it — by emailing hello@teachmelike5.com. Withdrawal doesn't affect processing that already happened lawfully, and we'll stop further processing within a reasonable time unless the law requires us to keep the data.

5.Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers (Data Processors) that help us run the site, under agreements that require them to protect it:

• Google — only if you choose Google sign-in, to verify your identity.
• Amazon Web Services (AWS) — hosting and storage of the site and submissions.

We may disclose data if required by law or to protect our rights and users' safety.

6.How long we keep it, and security

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected — for example, application data for the current hiring cycle — after which we delete it, unless the law requires us to keep it longer. We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect your data. If a personal-data breach occurs, we will act as required by the DPDP Act, including notifying the Data Protection Board of India and affected users.

7.Your rights

As a Data Principal under the DPDP Act, you have the right to:

• Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we process it.
• Correct, complete, or update your personal data.
• Erase your personal data where it is no longer needed for the purpose.
• Withdraw consent (see section 4).
• Grievance redressal — raise a complaint with us (see section 9).
• Nominate another person to exercise your rights in the event of death or incapacity.

To exercise any right, email hello@teachmelike5.com and we'll respond within the time the law prescribes.

8.Children

Our internship applications and account features are intended for people aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect the personal data of a child (under 18) without verifiable parental or guardian consent, and we do not track children or serve them targeted advertising. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.

9.Grievance redressal

If you have a concern about how we handle your personal data, please contact our Grievance Officer first:

If your complaint isn't resolved, you may escalate to the Data Protection Board of India as provided under the DPDP Act.

10.Cookies

We use only what's necessary: a session cookie to keep you signed in, and your theme choice stored locally in your browser. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

11.Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service or the law changes. We'll revise the “last updated” date above, and for material changes we'll make a reasonable effort to notify you.

12.Governing law

This policy is governed by the laws of India, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000.
